Have a lost EHIC Card? An EHIC Card, also known as a European Health Insurance Card, entitles you to medical care while you are in the EU and EU member countries. An EHIC can be issued to those over the age sixteen. They cover medical care for accidents, injuries, or other unforeseen circumstances while you're travelling. They also cover treatment for pre-existing conditions and routine maternity care. The treatment can be either free, or at a greatly reduced cost. These cards remain valid for five years. The renewal process is simple and may be started six month prior to the expiration date. They can even be renewed online.
If you are a resident of the United Kingdom, you can renew or apply for an EHIC online. Remember, if you travel with your family, each individual family member must possess their own individual European Health Insurance Card. You can apply for your partner and children if they are younger than sixteen, or nineteen if they are full time students.
First time applicants must provide their full name, birth date, address, and NHS or National Insurance number. For renewals, if neither of your details are different, then all that is required is completing an online application for a card to be reissued.
If your postal address is different, then you must contact the issuing organisation before completing online registration. After you have informed them, you may continue with the form online for your replacement card.
